As part of the NU DIG celebrations of the UN International Day for People with Disabilities, I invited our first ever external speaker to act as keynote to our celebratory event – actor, writer comedian and activist Francesca Martinez. Francesca delivered an extremely thought provoking and empowering talk, shining a comedic light on the assumptions society holds about people with disabilities.
I also requested the main University building at Kings Gate to be lit up purple for IDPD. Images and tweets from our event are below.
