I was present at the official opening of the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium at the National Space Centre along with hundreds of lucky school children. I chatted to a few of the visitors and students about a career in space research and got to meet Sir Patrick once again after the official opening ceremony. The first time I met him was after his lecture on Mars at the Fairfield Theatre in Croydon, where he signed my book and we chatted about my undergrad at Imperial College and the pursuit of my PhD at the Open University. Sir Patrick Moore has recorded a number of video introductions that precede the planetarium shows at the National Space Centre.
